Hi,
I'm new to this site. Just wondered what any recently admitted BCL students were intending to study next year?
I am also interested; how many of you are considering academic careers (UK or abroad), practice etc.
BCL subjects?

I intended to accept my offer to the BCL, but I am having second thoughts at present. My acceptance letter included a preliminary list of courses offered next year and the intellectual property course is not being offered next year. As I am an IP nerd, I am very wary of enrolling during a term in which my primary subject is not being offered. Beyond that, if I go, I intend to take the international bankruptcy course and the dissertation (no idea beyond that).
I am considering a career in academia in the US (and I am still very wary of the BCL's reputation in the states). I simply do not know how well the BCL is received here. I have found very few US professors who took the BCL and I don't know if this is because it is not a legit pathway to US academia or if it is simply a case that few US professors went to Oxford (regardless of its esteem in US academic circles).

I am yet to decide between Oxford or Cambridge but if I do go to Oxford I plan to do competition law, conflict of laws, regulation and internatonal economic law. I also noted that IP was no longer offered this year, which is a shame as I was planning to take it. I hope that none of the other subjects are cancelled but the list of courses did say that some further subjects might not be offered. I wonder when we will know? Also, does anyone know when we need to actually decide on subjects? I got the impression that the week of 22 September (start week) was some sort of BCL O'week where there were taster lectures but I'm not even sure if this is or is not the case.
I am planning to continue my legal career in Australia, where the BCL is very well regarded (also in academia).

I am having similar doubts about the BCL.
mschuster43, what are your other options? In your opinion, would Columbia be a better option than the BCL?
