should i just concentrate on my grades or do law review publications, moot clubs, representing your college in sports and other co-curriculars help. i mean if uve got a decent grade and co-curriculars would top uk colleges consider you at par with a student with a very good grade. In india 60% is a first class and i guess ill be between 55 and 60 by the time i finish which is a higher second.
are marks everything

HI, Mr.farazkhan,
I appreciate your interest to know about the preferred % by top law schools. I can say, yes, Ist and foremost, what keeps yourself higher than others is your % in llb. Always try to secure above 60%, i possible above 65%, that together with other extra-circular activities like review publications, moot courts, orticle writings etc will make you uinque from others and you will be preferred for admissions by any top law school world-wide.
All the best-Mr. Chak.

I think that marks are a very important part of the selection process but they are not everything.
For instance, from where did you obtain your marks? Average marks from Harvard are better considered than excellent marks from a "McDo" university.
Do you have any work experience? One of your dissertations has been published? And so on.

hi thanks for ur advice. but the problem i have is that, luk i am from a top ten law college in india. the question is would persons going through student admission profiles in london colleges be aware of indian colleges and consider a relaxation on the grades criteria. you know everyone knows about harvard. would they give similar credibility to colleges in the east that are not so famous internationally.

also, would it make sense that if i do not have the grades to get into a top law school in the uk for my llm i gain work experience for a couple of years and then apply. would that make a difference.
look i really need advice. thanks a lot.

If you haven't already taken a thorough look at the websites of some of the universities you are interested in, I would recommend that. Many, if not all, U.K. universities' websites state the admission requirements for different parts of the world.
I would imagine that the admissions teams would be fairly well informed about foreign universities' marking schemes, since nearly half of the students attending many LL.M. programmes are not from the U.K. If you are not convinced by their websites, maybe you can contact the universities directly.

I'm surprised at that to be honest with you. I know it's fairly easy to assume, as a North American, that the universities will have equivalency standards for my marks, but I really would have expected that they would have such a large number of Indian applicants that you would have no difficulty at all finding the information. Good luck with your search and your applications!
