Durham right up there too...thats a boost!!! And SOAS came right up to the top 20 again!!! Seems very decent and reasonable this year!

Having decided on Durham I'm quite happy with that. I'm not sure 'student satisfaction' is entirely reliable but the Complete University Guide is one of the more reliable ranking lists. Durham's right up there overall too!

I might join Durham in 2011. Not sure yet.
Let me know what you think and good luck on the course.!
You start in October?

Well, these rankings become less and less trustworthy lately, may I say.
For law, King's College London, for instance, was not placed above some universities when it should have been. I will stay away from pointing fingers at those unis not to hurt one's feelings, but it's rather obvious.

And the never ending ranking discussion starts once again... let's just wait until the other rankings (times and guardian) come out.

Sounds like Kings is your university then.
I largely ignore student satisfaction ratings as they're misleading. Research and entry standards are probably the best measures to look at - even graduate prospects are flawed when you consider that they refer to graduates taking ANY job rather than graduate-level roles.

You're right, I've been admitted to King's.
Law is such a profession where prestige matters a lot, it's just the way it is. The prestige of the institution impacts the real law rankings, among other influental factors. So, based on this knowledge, I was quite surprised to see these rankings. However, that's probably all, the opinion of the Independent doesn't concern me much at all. In my view, it doesn't reflect the real picture. Because, as you correctly noticed, it considers vague concepts like "student satisfaction". Ask 100 UK law undergrads or 100 law firm partners, well those people who really live in the legal professional environment everyday, to compile those rankings. I guess, they will argue fiercely along the way, but at the end we will see quite different, but overall, valid rankings.
