Hi,
I got a conditional offer from King's College. I only got 97 instead of the required 100 in the iBT Toefl test. Do you think KCL will make an exception and admit me anyway?

I don't think that the overall total is the issue - what did you get in the writing?

Hi TallTrees, thanks for your reply!
I got 22 in the writing part...I don't know why my score is that low. I found that writing was the easiest of all parts.

Most universities put most emphasis on the wriring element -which makes sense given the subject. 22 seems ok but not outstanding. I'm sure they will look at other factors. Is there no indication on their website what he minimum is?

I guess the website stated a minimum score of 24 in the writing section.

That;s tough - but not the end of tje world. If your academics are good that could be enough. Good luck!

If I were you, I would take the test once more. I think it's very unlikely that they will waive this condition. Since it was so close to the required score, I think that if you try it once more you'll surely get the grade you need. Best of luck.

Bizarre, I seemed to remember the TOEFL requirement to be 109?
As the above poster said: If you've got the time to do it again and have the results in time (with other words, if you're applying for 2010-2011) you should take it again.
If not, they will certainly accept you if they want, maybe with the condition to retake the test or take a language course, maybe even without condition.

I don't think that KCL will waive this condition. I suggest re-taking TOEFL test or trying to obtain a satisfactory result on IELTS test which is a bit easier.
Best of luck,
