¿Is there anyone interested in pursuing a JSD or Ph.D program after the LL.M?
¿What are the chances to get in in a top school? Any kind of information would be very useful.
Cheers!

If you want to do an SJD, you will probably end up in the same school as your LLM. Most schools prefer students from their own LLM program.

JSD is supposed to be the equivalent of a Ph.D., whereas no proper Ph.D. in law is offered by US schools. You can however study law within a Ph.D. in a subject other than law, for instance political science. Both programs are extremely competetive, especially at top US schools, which normally admit between 5 to 10 students per year. To my knowledge, most school suggest applicants to refrain from applying directly to a SJD (or JSD), and rather to apply to a LL.M. program and then find an academic contact (that is a professor) with whom to submit a new application for the JSD (of which, indeed, a LL.M. is equivalent to JSD's first year). Best luck!
