US LLM | Preference for candidates straight out of undergraduates ?

Hey everyone!

I’m exploring the option of pursuing a US LLM and was wondering if anyone here knows of any T14 universities that are more inclined to accept candidates who come straight out of undergrad with an LLB degree (specifically, an English LLB) without any prior work experience.

I know some programs generally prefer applicants with a few years of experience, but I’m curious if any universities tend to be more open to fresh graduates in their LLM admissions. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated—thanks!

Hi! usually, each school will try to balance their class and admit applicants in all categories.
I did my LLM at Harvard, and some of my classmates were straight after their LLBs. We also had people with a few years of experience, and more senior practitioners.

So unless a school explicitly states that you need work experience (like Columbia), they will try to diversify their class.
