Hello, I may assist some of an explanation.
The differences are international law and which area of business you will deal with. International trade covers most of the investment in each country between foreign investors and the state. The disputes mostly involves by the virtue of States rather than investors. So, it leans on the public international law side. Whilst, maritime law is a commercial law incorporating with maritime logistic which is different from the Law of the sea. Most of the disputes are insurance over maritime transaction in my understanding. Thus, the difference is between public and private law instead. However, if you are keen on the treaty interpretation, it will be on prospective of international law.

I would say that the maritime law yields most of possible markets for international lawyers rather than international trade. However, some law firms provides international trade disputes consultation. As there are no formal dispute mechanisms, the court, most of disputes are settled on arbitrations or ADR. Thus, if you are more of public law people, you will enjoy international trade whilst if you enjoy contract formation or maritime disputes, it should be maritime law. Besides, there are few schools specialized in Maritime Law. Those graduates are to be assets.
