International Law - part/time/distance LLM

Hello all,

I'm interested in knowing the most reputed LLM programs that can be done on a part - time / distance learning basis, preferably in the field of international and development law. I'm happy in my current job, and consider an LLM as a necessary qualification for me to aim for a development sector job in the future. I'm not able to leave my job and spend a year doing LLM, as frankly I'm 32 and too old for that!

Could anyone please recommend some distance / part - time LLM programs that I can do, preferably in international law, my preferred locations are UK, Europe and US - I'm based in Asia.

I did see US universities and except for Columbia/NYU, they don't seem to have a good reputation with international law, and they also do not offer part - time LLMs, save for Tax.

I'm happy to complete it in 1 or 2 years, and can attend summer sessions for 2-3 months whenever required. Any recommendations on best programs would be most helpful!

You might want to check out the University of London, which has been offering online LLM programs through its External branch for a long time. It's a well-established brand with a solid program. I'm not sure how well their offerings align with what exactly you're looking for, but they do have LLMs in International Criminal Justice and Law and Development, among many others.

Also in the UK you have the University of Edinburgh, which offers an Online LLM in International Commercial Law and Practice, among others.

There are some schools in the US that are also offer online programs, to name a few, Northeastern, USC, and Georgetown. There are others!

Thank you! Yes UCL sounds to be the best. I’m trying to figure how well rated Leiden is. Edinburg though v good unfortunately only offers it’s part time LLM to EU based students.

I hadn't heard that about the Edinburgh program and if that's true it would be odd. Leiden is a good school but I don't think they offer any distance learning options.
