if I study a GDL in the UK can that grant me passage to the LLM? I have a Bachelors of Arts and more interested in international law than anything. And would like to fast track my studies . Any knowledge on the matter would be smashing thanks.

No you need an LLB / JD to apply for an LLM. Luckily a lot of GDL providers like BPP give you the option to upgrade your GDL to an LLB with one more year of study.
