UCIHL or KCL?

MarieN

I'm a student from France and I have currently been accepted to LLM programs at both UCIHL and KCL (international humanitarian law and international peace and security respectively). I was wondering if anybody has any thoughts on comparing these institutions in terms of job prospects, education quality, expenses while there etc.

Any replies would be appreciated.

Hi Fulvia,
Yes I got the same e-mail today, congrats on getting admitted. I am still waiting for reply from HEI then I will see where to go, I have an admission from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy but ultimately, it is gonna boil down to affordability as without a generous scholarship, I cannot attend.

hi everyone,
I was accepted at the Geneva Academy for International Humanitarian Law and was wondering whether any of you will be going there in the summer for one reason or the other. You see, I intend to study French there from the end of June and am looking for accommodations. If I find something suitable, I was wondering if anyone is interested in sharing the apartment for the summer to cut the costs.
Thanks and congrats to all,
Tanya

Hi Fulvia!
Sounds great.
I am Canadian, but I lived for the last year in Austria. So, all my documents, etc, ar there. I came to Canada to visit my parents for Easter and got accepted last week. So, I electronically registered at the University of Geneva last weekend, but I stil have to pay the fee and collect all the photocopes to send to them. I am flying to Austria on Monday, so I hope to finalize everything and get all the documents once I am there.
I started looking for apartments back in Austria and made several bookmarks on m computer. Here in Canada my parents' internet is hardly working adn everything takes forever to load. So, I am waiting to get back to start looking for accommodations in earnest. Once I am back, I can email you the websites I found for all student accomodations and two "united" websites where agents post their offers.
Keep in touch and let me know if you find anything decent,
Tanya

Hi MarieN,

I had a dilemma similar to yours. I was admitted into both UCL and the Geneva Academy, both on full scholarship, but I opted for UCL in the end. I deferred my admission to the Academy, but I'm not sure if I can still attend the Academy as its program starts in September, while UCL's program ends in Sept. There is also the logistical problem of whether I will need to secure a Swiss study visa from my home country or whether I can do so from London.

Hello everyone!

my name's A-Jull Helena and will start the LLM at UCIHL in Sept. 2008. I was wondering if anyone was interested in sharing a flat or sth similar. Though i applied for accommodation, I am a bit worried about finding a place to live. Everyone I've met so far told me how difficult and terrible it is to find a room... so if anyone knows a good source to find rooms to rent or would be interested in maybe sharing a flat let me know. Maybe we can find sth cheaper that way.

Hey guys,

I have been studying in Geneva since October 2006, both at the faculty of law as well as the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IUHEID) and I could only recommend you to pick Geneva. Many of my friends study at ADH as it is called now and it's a really good program. The advantage of Geneva is that there are cooperations between the academic institutions as well as with the international organisation and especially the ICCR. If you are English speaking, you should also profit from the possibility to learn or improve your French. You should also know that as ADH students you are also free to take courses at the graduate institute which is also very well known worldwide and not just only for their law departments. Former students in Geneva include Kofi Annan und Barroso the current president of the European commission.
I am holding offers from Leiden (for the Master of Advanced Studies (LL.M. Advanced) Public International Law Program, and both for KCL and UCL for the LL.M. Program and I'd like to know where I should go in your opinion. According to my professors Leiden and King's College are on one level....

Hi there,
Since you are already in Geneva, I was wondering whether you have any tips on accommodations. Are any of your friends moving out of the apartments, etc. I was accepted at ADH but they offered me no scholarship, and so I did not bother to secure accommodations back in march, as I was thinking of deferring the admission. Now it looks like there might be a way for me to fund the program, but it's so late to apply for residences, and in any event I was hoping to find a normal apartment and share it with fellow students. So, if you have any leads, feel free to pass them on. Thanks.
