Hi everyone,
I got accepted at VU Amsterdam for an LLM in Law and Politics of International Security. However, I also got accepted at the University of Essex, for an LLM in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. In your opinion, which is the best programme in terms of reputation and internship opportunities? I really don't know which one to decide.
Many thanks!
LLM at VU Amsterdam or Essex?

Hi Juliana!
I am currently studying at VU and well... It is terribly hard to get a legal internship as an international student. 99.99% of potential employers do really prefer the locals (to the extent where, for example, Dutch students receive very private privileged invitations to career events while international students get nothing). Also, in my opinion as an experienced lawyer, the way they teach law here is rather shallow: very conceptual-based, no real practise cases AT ALL. This can be seen as an advantage, but for me it really is a problem. Anyway, wish you best of luck with your studies and hope you make the right choice for you.
