Geneva Academy Applications 2020-2021

Saashi

There is one person each admitted from both tracks as far as I know.

Yes we have. Late February 25-26 someone posted was pre-selected for the full scholarship of the LLM and someone said she was put on the waitlist also for the full scholarship.

I can't believe I can remember all these comments and dates like this hahaha. This is becoming an obsession.

Has anyone on the LLM non-scholarship track heard back from the Academy? Admission? Waitlist? Anything?

In previous years people started getting admitted even in January and I don't think we have heard much this time.

I don't think we have heard any one getting offer for LLM either in scholarship or in non scholarship track.

There is one person each admitted from both tracks as far as I know.

I just remembered someone else. As for this forum, there are two admitted to the LLM with full scholarship and one person waitlisted on the scholarship track but nothing from the non scholarship track...

Any updates today? Who else are getting anxious?

I applied for the non-scholarship track on the last day , hope that won't significantly decrease my chances.
Checking my inbox and this thread every 30 mins, so anxious! I think the last week of March/first week of April is when the non-scholarship track should expect for news. just my internal feelings not based on facts lol

The admission/scholarship chances does not get lessened on the basis of the time when the application was submitted - this was what Geneva Academy replied when I asked this to them via email some months ago!

I applied on scholarship track for MTJ, probably two days after the admissions opened, back in November I think as I already had all of the documentations, references, lined up for GA. But I still haven't received any "official email" from them. They just told me in February when I saw other people are getting emails for interviews that, it is not a systematic process to conduct interviews for every applicant. However, around the end of February I saw that my LinkedIn profile was visited by three or four people from the academy. Which raised my hopes but now it's the second week of march and I still haven't received any "official email".

To me it seems like this year the admission process takes longer. Based on the comments from previous years, it seems like the GA does not have a systematic approach to making evaluations - they assess our applications here and there, regardless of whether it is an LLM, MTJ, when you applied etc. I might be wrong.

I feel the same, indeed! Based on previous threads, I think that the facebook group may be an interesting "thermometer" as it reaches more students than this forum and we can check how many are in (thus, admitted). Anyway, I am still trying to figure out the whole thing about "pre-admission" x "waitlist", interviews and stuff... but I couldn't find any pattern after all.

I agree! We need to keep hanging in there :)

Obviously the one cannot access the group without being admitted but is it possible to see the number of members at least? Sorry if its a stupid question, have never checked the similar groups

Less than 10 as of now. https://www.facebook.com/groups/223708762093665/about/

I apologize in advance if this sounds harsh but: May I please request those who have not yet received confirmation of admission - but who joined the group - to please leave the group? It was created so that those who got in could help one another with the practical aspects of moving to Geneva :(

Congratulations!! Great news. Please tell us, was it an LLM or MTJ? If 28 Feb was a deadline then it was a non-scholarship track

Guys, I've received acceptances from the Geneva Academy (LLM programme on IHL) and the Graduate Institute (LLM in International Law, specialising on Protection of the individual).

I don't know which to choose. What would you suggest and why?
