American Indian law courses

I am an American lawyer and for the past 33 years have represented American Indian tribes and Alaska Native organization in governmental and natural resource issues. I enjoy teaching law as well. Are courses in American Indian law offered in European law schools? Is there sufficient student interest in indigenous rights issues to justify such courses?

Hi

That sounds fascinating but I am not certain that European law students would be interested in such courses as much of them mainly focus on subjects which will help them practice later.

I think, however, that you should explore the possibility of teaching this subject to political science students. Universities/Schools like the LSE (London) and Sciences Po (Paris) to name a few may be interested to have such courses in their curriculum. You could also try business schools like HEC, ESSEC... (France). I know that they certain courses outside the traditional hardcore finance/marketing/accounting/tax.

As far as I am concerned I would be interested to discuss with you the issue of the protection of traditional knowledge and other IP related issues. I wrote something on the subject a few months ago...

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.
