Accomodation near Leiden Law School?

Sakura

Hi,

I will be in Leiden from September doing the Adv LLM in Public International Law and still don't have a place where to stay. Is anyone subletting their apartment or looking for a flat mate for the September 2012 - July 2013 period?

Hey,

I am doing the LLM in European Law this September.I am also looking for accommodation near Leiden Law School. The Law School is situated on Steenschuur street. Leiden University Housing have informed me that they no longer have accommodation available. So I now have to look for accommodation myself. Let me know if you hear anything.

Cheers

Hey guys,

I'm in the same boat - I'm starting the LLM in PIL in September but have been told that the university can no longer offer accommodation. I'd appreciate it if you guys could give me any tips or pointers - I'll do likewise if I find anything out!

Hello all above

Myself and 2 male friends from Ireland have secured accommodation right beside the law school on the Herensteeg. Its 1900 pm for 4 people. Each getting a room excluding bills. So itll come to around 510 pm per person which is cheaper than accommodate.

We need someone to close on it asap. Please pm me asap if you think you are interested. We need swift answers.

Hi all,
i have been studying in Leiden(Reular PIL) since September and I could give you some addresses.First, there is kamernet.nl where you create your account and you have to pay a commission(i think 20 euros or something) in order to send message for a room. You should be careful though, since there are some scams.Second, there are two pages if you are on facebook, Leiden Housing http://www.facebook.com/groups/239427083843/
and the ISN Leiden 2011-2012 Official Group
http://www.facebook.com/groups/115080191923354/
Since i m at work i ll post you some others that i have later.
If you have any specific question, don't hesitate.

Good luck,
Antonis

Personally, initially I did not opt for the SEA Housing option.I sarted looking on my own but by mid-end june last year I started getting a bit disappointed so I contacted the other office Accommodate(for the ones that don't know, they are two separate offices SEA and Accommodate) and they proposed me two options. Finally,I chose Herengracht(which I highly recommend) but given the fact that it was out of my budget I signed only a 5 months' contract till end of January.By mid November I had to notify them whether I would stay in the second semester, and I told them that I wouldn't.Finally,I found something through some Dutch friends.
So,in my opinion it's always possible to sign a one semester contract and look for sth else in the next semester(which is easier at that moment than now when the demand is extremely high). As for the sites that i wrote,RooFs is quite good,it s also run by Dutch students and I guess you can find more reasonable prices than what you have in SEA/Accomodate,which are insanely high.Kamernet with the precautions that I mentioned before can also be useful in finding something cheap but as some friends told me,they had to wait 1-2 weeks in order to receive replies.maybe it was just coincidential though.Pararius has rooms posted by rental agencies,so it must be safer but you have to pay commission fee and/or deposit.
Finally, there is a rental subsidy(huurtoeslag) from the Dutch Government if you have an independent room, pay a maximum rent of 650 or something and if you have a specific income.I am not sure though for the exact requirements but you have to take that with a grain of salt since they are trying to modify and stricten such allowances.
