Does anyone know how to best prepare the NY bar exam outside NY?
- Is Bar/Bri the best option or the only good option
- If yes, how does this work. Do they train in other states (e.g. Louisiana) or do students have to go to NY or learn via Distance Learning.
- Has anyone heard about the success rate?
- How much in TOTAL did you pay (if applicable) for the course in the last 3 years
I've been on Bar/Bri website, which is still unclear regarding their credentials and the way everything is to be organised.

BarBri has a solid track record. There are various locations to take the pre-recorded lectures, however, there does not seem to be one in Louisiana. Some people prefer to study from home but I need the added discipline of getting to class everyday and learning with others in the same boat. I think the course is around $2800. It's expensive, but I'd rather pass on the first attempt.

one of the best bar review courses (or so it is claimed).......is bar bri. unfortunately its upwards of 3000 USD for a two month course which is a crash course on bar exam subjects like contracts, const, realestate, criminal law etc.
bar bri exams/study material are tailor made to the jurisdiction/state in which your taking the bar exam.
as lawyers most of us are used to studying on our own anyway:)..........u can buy their set of twelve books (includes multiple choice/essays and the multistate bar exam portion) off ebay for about 400-600 USD! decent savings wouldnt u say?:) California and NY bars are the most common course material u'll find being sold on ebay

If I am not buying those books from Barbri, does anyone have a reading list for the subjects concerned?

I actually took the bar and passed using Kaplan materials. Found their red book extremely helpful and their online classes fantastic. Goodluck guys.
