Brand new school may offer full-time postgraduate programs in the future

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur established the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL) on its campus. That school began operating in late July as the first group of LL.B. students and the part-time graduate diploma students began the 2006-2007 academic year. According to the The Telegraph (Calcutta), there are plans to begin LL.M. and Ph.D. programs at the school in the future.

George Washington University in the United States has also agreed to faculty exchanges with the RGSOIPL, and will take on an advisory role for the new school, which is the first institution in India devoted specifically to intellectual property law.
