Hi to everybody!

I received an offer from QM and I'm waiting for the information from UCL. As my Toefl is 253 (essay 4) I assume that I can receive only a conditional offer from UCL where the condition would be attending English pre-sessional courses during 5-8 weeks. I would be happy to attend these courses but the problem is attending such courses is not enough and I will have to take Pre-sessional examinations and receive a mark equal to 75%. Surely I do not know what does it mean to receive 75% and how difficult these courses are? I'm afraid that I will receive 74% or 70% and I UCL will reject my conditional offer and I will loose a chance to study in UK in 2006 because the Pre-sessional courses finish in September.

So I have some questions in this relation:
1. what does it mean to receive 75% at Pre-sessional examinations in UCL - the same as 7.5 of IELTS?
2. What do you know about the practice - do many stidents pass these -sessional examinations?

I was excatly in the same situation last year and I took the pre sessionnal at UCL.
The exam at this summer class is close to the IELTS and to get 75% is considered to be equal to 7.5 at IELTS.The eaxm at UCL language center is an alternative to IELTS, ie if you scored 75%, you have fulfilled the language requirement for UCL.

To get 75% is tough but very possible if you work enough. I took 8 weeks of course with a start level of 6.5 at IELTS. I worked hard and managed to get 77%. All LLM students of my group (but not all of the pre sessionnal) managed to get 75%.

I think 253 at TOEFL = 7 at IELTS. So you start in a better position than I. If you take 8 weeks and work hard, it should really be fine.

I also have the language trouble. I'll be going to LSE this september.
I am required to get 263 but I got 260 from toefl in computer-based and 5.0 in TWE.
Does anyone know whether LSE would accept my score or ornanizes a similiar pre-sessional course?
