Hey there, thanks so much for connecting! I had a small question about Columbia's LSAC application for this year. There are two mandatory supplemental essay questions - the first one being about personal interests outside of coursework, and the other being about how you will learn within Columbia's diverse community.

From what I've heard from alumni, this seems like a new requirement introduced this year. Do you have any information or tips about how to go about answering these questions? If you've heard anything at any outreach session from Columbia admission officers that would be super helpful, but just your instincts about what the university is expecting from candidates here would be very useful guidance too.

As with many of these schools, they make the application process very specific. The key to writing these correctly is to get professional help or customize each application for the school. A one size fits all application is not enough anymore. Hi all, I recently attended a Columbia admissions event. There I was told that the preferred length for the two supplemental writing prompts (Q 8 and 9 I think under educational objectives section in the LSAC application) is 500 words. This is significantly shorter than the 9999 character limit displayed for these questions in my LSAC application. So here's my question - is the word limit for these questions displaying as 9999 characters for other applicants too in their LSAC applications?

Hi all! To anyone who's applied for Columbia's 2023 LLM program I have a question - have you received an email from the university confirming receipt of your application yet? I sent mine over 10 days ago but still haven't received a confirmation email, though my Law School Report has been requested by the university. Any responses or inputs will be helpful!

Hi colleagues, I've been admitted to both Columbia and NYU and I'm still waiting for NYU's decision on scholarship. As April 3 approaches, if I don't hear from NYU next week I'm thinking of reserving my seat in Columbia and then if a really good offer comes from NYU I could consider switching (of course that would mean that I'll lose my 1k deposit). Is anyone in the same situation as me? do you see any downside in doing this (apart form losing the deposit)? Thanks in advance!

Yes I just heard of two more people who got off the waitlist and were issued offers of admission!

My friend wrote a letter of continued interest, stating the other schools she has received acceptances from as well as scholarships she has been awarded. As far as I am aware, there were no new developments to add to her application.

I don’t think so! But we could make one to help provide clarity on the waitlist process. I am sure many candidates would be interested.
