Hi- my name is Katharine and I have just graduated with an LL.B in Law with German Law from UCL and am now living and working in Vienna, Austria.
My career goal is to work in the area of Eastern European development although I have decided that working in an international law firm is not the career for me- my interests are more orientated towards politics/government.
Since arriving in Austria, I have had some problems with the recognition of my degree as the education and legal systems are totally different. I would therefore like to ask firstly how an LL.B compares to the Austrian "magister" qualification and whether it would be recommendable or even necessary for me to complete an LL.M in order to gain academic recognition.
If I were to complete an LL.M I think it would be cross-disciplinary law-politics-economics. I would like to ask anyone who has completed such a programme for details of the job prospects which follow such a course.
Thankyou!
