Anyone with Australian JD done NCA exams or found a job in Canada?

mhk

Graduated as JD at Bond, but did not know how difficult it would be to find ANY sort of legal job in Canada. I have sent in my papers to the NCA to be reviewed, but from what I have heard and read, its almost like having to do the whole school experience again??

Anyone graduated in Australia and have any experience with the Canadian job market?

Would appreciated some input/help. thanks.

I have been accepted into BOND and I am doing research on the same issue. I was wondering if you had recieved any feedback from the accredation committee? Were you able to get accredited, let alone find a job?

I did a LLB at Bond a few years back. Been busy doing other stuff around the world the past few years, so I'm just finishing my last NCA exam. When looking for articles in Canada, I had one interview with a top-tier firm, which was followed by a second interview with a few more partners. I had an offer within a day. Just waiting for the last NCA result and off to work.

BTW, IMHO Bond is an awesome place, the experiance is like nothing you will receive anywhere else.

Well done Dr. Jay - which firm if you don't mind me asking? (you can pm me if you don't want the firm's name to be public) How many NCA exams did you have to do - 4 or 5? How many years did you take off doing other stuff around the world? I am thinking along the same lines - doing other stuff, and then getting back into the groove maybe. Are you in Toronto or some other big city?

Yes indeed - Bond is great.

@Merrill 10 - sorry I had not seen your post before. Yes - NCA accepted the transcripts from Bond and indicated that I had to write 4 exams.

The reply from Dr. Jay seems to be a good one. I also replied to his post.

I hope you have joined Bond. Good luck. Its a great place to be at and the education there and the people just rock!
