Leiden University (founded in 1575) is the oldest University in the Netherlands. The Faculty of Law, with over 300 full-time teaching staff, is one of the largest in the country. It enjoys an international reputation in a number of fields and now offers various long- and short term Programmes in English available for Study Abroad and Exchange students. Leiden is close to The Hague, which is the Dutch political and administrative centre and the legal capital of the world (hosting the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal, and the Iran-US Claims Tribunal).
