rosemary, it means that your friend didn't get admitted in the first round of admissions. However, her chances are still good because most top candidates apply to several schools and wont accept many of they offers they'll receive. In a few weeks, several of the schools will check how many students sent them their deposit, and will begin admitting a few more students, and so on and so forth, until the entire class is filled.
