Hello I just completed my LLB in the Caribbean. I want to practice law in the US. I am looking to do distance learning at Florida Coastal LLM online program. Then proceed to apply to the bar. Any advice you can provide in relation to stated plan would be great!
Thanks

FCSL is a solid program and the online LLM is very innovative. However, if you want to actually practice in the US after graduating, it would greatly help you to attend a program at a US campus so that you can network with other students, professors and local law firms. As a foreign LLB holder, you will find it difficult (very difficult) to obtain a job in the US with merely an LLM and not many actual contacts. Just my humble opinion.

Thank You very much for this response. This helped greatly. Attending school on campus is one of my biggest challenges at the moment but I will try and see if that option can be worked out.

Hi Pinkstar,
If you're interested in obtaining your LLM in US Law online, you should consider @WashULaw. The classes are highly interactive and you have face to face meetings with professors and fellow classmates, as well as study groups and office hour sessions where you can video chat with others. This allows you to create a network not just with the faculty but also with your counterparts in law firms around the world. In addition, there is a summer immersion opportunity that allows you to visit major US cities and experience US law in US courtrooms.
Take a look at onlinelaw.wustl.edu or find us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/WashULaw or twitter https://twitter.com/WashULaw. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!
Best,
Melissa
