Salary versus Tax in the U.S.

Hi, everybody,
I would like your help on the following question, as I haven't the slightest idea of its answer.
As just about a lot of people in this forum, I would like to work in the US for at least a year after I finish the LL.M. (please, let's forget about the "US market is dead", at least for this thread). I have been told that LL.Ms can make an average of US$140-160k in one year by working at a big law firm.
My question is: suppose one gets 140K in one year. How much will be left, after one pays the taxes in NY city?
Thanks!

Thanks, for the reply Dumdedum!
But, gee, that much?! I was hoping that the taxes would take about 30% max!
