Ridiculous Cost for Law School

Ok, does anyone else but me think the cost of attending law school in the US is getting ridiculous. When I went to the University of Texas, a top 20 law school, from 87 to 90 my tuition as a Texas resident student averaged about $2,300 per year. I borrowed $5,000 per year to pay for tuition, books and some living expenses and owed upon graduation $15,000, which I thought was a huge amount of money. I understand that law school tuition at UT for Texas resident students is now around $14,000 per year, which is supposedly cheap. I also understand that tuition at private law school such as USC is approaching $40,000 per year. My question is how do foreign students attending law school in the US for a LL.M degree afford it? Taking into consideration the costs of tuition, housing, travel, spending money and loss of income, it has got to be extremely expensive.

I am banking on financial aid. I am from the Philippines and when NYU asked me to fork over an immediate $500 deposit to secure their scholarship grant, I nearly choked and explained that I spent less than $1,000 for my standard four-year law school education here in Manila.
