Hi all,
I just submitted my app for NYU's part time general studies program.
Here are my stats: Graduated cum laude from Syracuse;law review;moot court;lots of activities. Solid legal jobs during summers after my 1L and 2L year (corporation council & mid-sized law firm). Worked for a NY trial court judge for a year, and worked in one of the school's law clinic programs for a year. 2 solid recs, one from the judge and one from a professor. I am applying part time so that I can take the Feb 2010 NY bar (I'm going to be sitting for the bar of another state).
What are my chances of getting in? How many part time people do they accept in the general studies program?
Any advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated!

hi, Sucol, I am applying part-time general study program, too. It seems that there are quite few applicants here for non-tax part-time program. Anyway right now I am glad not to be alone.
However the difference btw us is I am international applicant. I have been waiting for their decision since september last year. I guess the non-tax part-time applicants are in totally different pool and treated differently. It's very hard to evaluate your chance to get in for there is no enough sample for you to compare with.
I also realize the non-tax part-time program is not NYU's "target customer", allow me put it in this way. Think about it, 9 month full time program can generate $50,000 for the school at least, which is pretty quick and simple, just like fast food in Mcdonald's. How about part-time students? They pay no more than full time students but they occupy the seats for 2-3 years. They are not welcome customers. No wonder NYU doesn't care about it at all.
I don't know why you apply part-time program 'cause you don't seem to be working now. Anyway good luck to you!
