HI, I am a 1L now (from Asia) at a 2nd tier US law school. I have an abstract idea of doing LLM after JD, maybe Tax, International taxation, or corporate. One of reasons I am considering the LLM is my expectation that it would help me get a job in here US.
The thing is I have no background for the LLM program, such as accounting, or business degree, or any related work experience.
Do you guys think it would worth doing LLM while paying 60k a year? In order words, would it considerably help me get a job in US even though I have no background (for tax, or corporate)?
To be honest, I have very slim idea what the corporate and taxation would be like. Just personally I prefer corporate law to taxation, but feel like doing corporate LLM would be harder to get a job without any background (such as MBA) than doing taxation LLM.
In sum, would the LLM worth it given my situation? If it does, corporate law or taxation as an international student? or If I can't find a job with my JD, doing LLM wouldn't be helpful?
I NEED YOUR ADVICE

Take the corporate subjects in 2L and 3L years. Try to find a job as a JD. You're only a 1L and have lots of time before you think of an LLM to somehow upgrade your "brand name."
