@dchatur

You applied twice in 3 years!? Mind sharing what made you reapply? chances of acceptance are low after a recent rejection.

Yes. I know a few people who were rejected the first time and got accepted the next. I'm trying again.

In 2011 while I was in the final year of college, I applied to Harvard, Oxford, Berkeley, LSE,Cambridge and Columbia for the academic year 2012-2013.

I was accepted in all barring Harvard and Columbia. I deferred all the offers thinking one day I'll make it to Harvard. I chose to work at the National Parliament of India instead as a Legislative Aide to Member of Parliament for one year and for the past one year I have been training the civil servants of India in various procedural and substantive laws. I wonder now, with two years of work-experience and after being rejected by Harvard once in 2012, do I now stand a chance at Harvard.

I did not apply anywhere else this year. I chose to apply only to Yale, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge. I wonder, what if I get rejected by all of them this time! :(

anybody know when in March the admission decisions are sent? I remember reading somewhere that it's likely going to be the third Monday of March.

@nidhi05

Did you get accepted into Oxford and Cambridge also ? If so did they agree to grant a deferral?

harvard does not care if its caled internship, work experience or whatever, they look at what your job was and than maybe after that how it was called. So do not worry too much , your overall background counts!

@ imnc

Yes, I received admission offers from (1) Oxford (2) Cambridge (3) LSE and (4) Berkeley.

All of them granted me deferral for one year in 2012, in order to take up the offer in 2013.

good show. I would have suggested you complete the BCL and then reapply to Harvard but that's assuming you had the $$$ and appetite for another year of study.

The past acceptances are good indicators but an HLS rejection once is a difficult thing to overcome in under 3 years

Thanks @jsd!

Unfortunately there were two reasons for declining the offers. I got an opportunity to work for the National Parliament of India in 2012 and for the civil servants of India in 2013 and 2014. Hence, I decided to work and re-apply to Harvard after 3 years of work ex, with a hope that my CV will become stronger.

Furthermore, I did not want to do two LLMs for constraint of money and time both. But yes, now I am really scared what if even Oxford rejects me this time!

good luck nidhi025! I don't think you have cause for worry about not making it to oxford, because if they'd take you without work experience, i should think they'd like to grant you admission when you've got work experience..at least as far as I understand it.
what's your area of experience?

Hello suzie1588.

My area of experience has been law and policy making process in India with the Parliamentarians and bureacrats/diplomats. More focused on Competition Law.

hey guys, I wanted to know what the odds are of getting into Harvard with below average grades (bottom 50%) but with decent work experience involving a superior court clerkship, law firm, and reasonably good co-curriculars.
