For those going to Columbia where are you going to live? Has anyone applied for International House?

Waiting to win the lottery... :-) By the way: what is so special about this international house? Seems like everybody wants to live there...

I'm also waiting to win the lottery..
Maybe I'll apply to I-House too, but right now it's unlikely (no spare time for that right now...

TJ
Internatioanal House seems to have good facilities and you can interact with other student more. My friend lived there year ago and he liked it very much.

Hey what happens if you do win the lottery?

CLS does not have enough housing, so the lottery decides who gets an appartment/room/etc. Is that what you asked?

Thanks TJ thats what I asked

applied to I-House - just received the admission notification - any other (possible) I-House residents out there ?

Lucky you! Does this mean that the law school lottery already took place or is the I-house application being handled separately?

CLS room assignment/lottery is independant from the I-House application. You should actually apply separately to those two institutions.
I applied to CLS for residence, and the lottery should now soon take place. We will most probably not be notified of decisions before mid-June.
I-House uses a different process for applicants. Complete applications received before June 3 will be notified a decision before June 17, complete applications received by June 17 will be notified a decision before July 1 etc.. So it's a 2-week cycle. And the later you apply, the less chances you probably have to get the room of your choice..
Hope this helps.
One more thing. There are probably many students out there who will be studying at Columbia next year. You might be interested in joining a mailing list that some of us have set up a couple of weeks ago. We already count 18 active members (from all over the globe). The main purpose is to share useful information in order to be best prepared for next year. If you'd like to join, please "PM" (private message) me and I'll contact you with details on how to join.

Does anyone know of the relative merits of International House vs. Lenfest Hall, Harmony Hall, West 115th St?
i.e. which is better to live in?
