Taking extra modules from other Universities?

noonick

Hi everyone,
is it possible to take extra modules or just attending the lectures of other universities then your own's? Especially for King's, Queen, UCL and LSE. I think that taking only 3 modules is not enough and also some modules listed on the other LLM programmes takes your attraction more! I heard that in the past you had that chance for University of London (colleges), what abaout now? Thanks...

From what I understand, an LLM is made up of 180 CATS points. (CATS is the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme.) So in theory, if your university is prepared to accept the points from another university, it can count (presumably some paperwork is required...).

As you say, London might be an option - I've not heard of universities (certainly those in direct competition) doing it for / with each other. I have heard of it with industry bodies and certain Business Schools (e.g. Manchester Uni).

Otherwise, you need to follow the university says - so I don't think you can escape a dissertation under any circumstances / regardless of however many extra courses you do.

Do let us know what you find out.
