Dear all,
Does anybody heard about this? What does "sucessful applicants" mean in this case? etc.

"From 1 May 2007 a new work permit scheme will be introduced allowing eligible international graduates to stay in the UK for a further year after their studies. The new scheme, entitled The International Graduate Scheme (IGS), is open to international graduates from all subject areas at undergraduate and graduate level. Successful applicants will be offered a permit granting them to stay in the UK for 12 months after completing their studies in order to seek work.
Applicants who have been awarded any degree class (with the exception of a fail) after 1 May 2007 may apply, as well as those who have completed postgraduate studies after this date. All applicants must apply within a year of receiving their qualification.

Beyond the 12 month period, international graduates may be eligible to apply for further extension under programmes such as the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme or Work Permits Programme.

This scheme replaces the previous subject-specific Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme (SEGS).

This announcement was made by Bill Rammell MP, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education on 28 March 2007."
