LLM to BCL

Lawnerd42

Hello everybody,

I am awaiting my dissertation from a top UK uni where I attended the LLM. I expect to graduate with a distinction, or in the worst case a very high 2.1.

My question is this, is there any point applying to the Oxford BCL? I am aware that in general they will not admit people who have already sat a llm in the UK. I was wondering if anybody on this forum has had experience of being accepted in similar circumstances?

Thanks!!

What's the risk in applying? Why not give it a try?

But moreover, make sure you know why you want to do a second UK masters before you spend time and money doing so.

Thanks for the reply.

And you make a valid point. I would imagine that my reasons for such a decision would need to be lucid in order to justify admission to the course.

If anybody had a similar idea/ previous experience of this let me know!

Thanks again.

This is true, but leaving the issue of admission to one side, my point was actually that you should make sure, just for your own purposes, that you have lucid reasons for *doing* another UK masters after you have already done one.

I am thinking of a similar switch, I am doing an LLM from the University of Chicago Law School and am planning to apply for the BCL... any advice from people who have done an LLM in the US and then done the BCL?
