Hi everyone!
I have to choose between these 2 universities (Edinburghr, Birmingham) and I am having quite a hard time. I know, both are excellent, both fulfil my requirements when the program is concerned.
What would you recommend?
The only thing that bothers me thatI am afraid, Edin is a little cold and dark and I am not a big fan of cold weather. Is there a difference between the weather in Edin and Bham? (most propably yes...) Can somebody give me advice, please? Most important: prestige, quality of the program and living conditions (weather, etc.)
I got a scholarship in Edin but I have no accomodation so far, as I have in Bham, so no idea what to do.
Please, help!
Thanks a LOT!

Congratulations on your acceptance to both universities.
As far as prestige, I would have to say Edinburgh. Not only because I attended Edi for my LLM and PhD but I did attend largely due to the reputation both in the UK and abroad. Edinburgh is a gorgeous city, too. And yes, it can get cold but it was colder in London for many days this year so I don't think you'll escape the cold anywhere in the UK. Luckily the temperatures are quite moderate unlike the far north of Scotland since it is on the coast. It also has many glorious sunny days...like the past month! It is quite dark in the winter but luckily this coincides when LLM students are typically preparing for exams and essays. The flip side is that during the summer, like right now, the sun rises at around 4 in the morning and sets at 10 p.m. There are many things to fill the dark days of winter due the amazing amount of cultral activities. If culture isn't your thing, there are also loads of pubs! :)
Plus, Edinburgh has Jo Shaw as part of the European law faculty and she seems to have her hand in all things European so it is a great programme for first-hand knowledge and practical application of your degree. Being able to attend Edi on scholarship is also a great plus and will look excellent on your CV.
Accommodation in Edinburgh is also fairly easy to find...most people it takes 2-3 days if they are being picky.
I hope this helps a wee bit.
Good luck!

Hi!
Thank you very much for your kind help! I was very much concerned about the weather there, but now I am not that anxious anymore :) May I have just one additional question? I read many discussions here (very usefull webpage) and everyone was marry about Edin, but I didnt read much about Birmingham. As far as I know it has also a nice reputation, so how come there are not so many people writing about it? :)
Thank you so much again!
