Anybody heard something about the LL.M. programs at Kingston University, (Kingston upon Thames).
Especially about the quality of the courses - and the other students ? How is the mixture of students (africa, asia, continental europe ?).

kingston is certainly not highly regarded in the UK, but i've not heard much about it in particular (good or bad)

Generally regarded as a poor university with lots of internal problems.

EASILY UCL! there's absolutely NO contest. UCL is one of the best & most prestigious law faculties in the UK and the world. there is no room for comparison!

what area of law are you interested in?

The only one Id consider going to is Aberdeen I think you can toss the others. Both Kingston and UEL arent universities Id even advise you to apply to. I reckon theres a good chance youll say that you wouldnt want to go to Aberdeen cause its in Scotland and, to make matters worse, its not in London!!!! But what good does it make to have a degree (a very expensive one if I may add), if its not a reputable university? Aberdeen may be in Scotland, but as far as I know it is highly regarded in the UK especially for its undergraduate programme, thats true but its is considered a good law school overall. And they've got one professor over there (whose name unfortunately I can't remember right know) who's known for his expertise in international law... private international law, to be more precise.

Kingston University has one of the worst reputations in the UK. LLM at this University may be a total waste of both time and money. If I were you, I would not touch this University even with a barge pole.
Wikipedia talking of Kingston University, among other things, states "In 2008, an audio recording obtained by student media included two psychology lecturers asking students to inflate their graded opinions given as part of the National Student Survey. One member of staff was recorded as encouraging students to boost specific satisfaction scores, because "if Kingston comes down the bottom [of the league tables], then the bottom line is that nobody is going to want to employ you because they are going to think your degree is shit".

Take it for what it is worth but this is a general feedback from some of my international student friends who had the misfortune of landing up at Kingston University for their LLM.
Kingston University LLM is an extreme no, no for international students especially intelligent international students.
There is so much latent racism, hostility as well as patronising attitude displayed both inside classroom ( by teaching staff) as well as outside the classrooms by admin. staff directed towards the international students that it is simply unbelievable. And this is also a shame as major source of funding for programmes like LLM in all these extremely low ranked Universities comes mainly from international students (who are charged nearly double fees of what is paid by the UK home students).
And intelligent international students are especially targeted by teaching staff (some of the reasons explained in the above paragraph) which also, perhaps, gives reflected in the marks given to the (intelligent) international students in the LLM exams etc. Of course all this is done so subtly that it may be v.v. difficult to prove it.... but there is a lot of resentment amongst many international students as to the way they were treated during their stay at Kingston University.
This combined with a very poor image of the University in the UK. One of the many reasons why Kingston University Law School is languishing nearly at the extreme bottom half of any ranking tables....
LLM in any other University in the UK would be better than an LLM at Kingston University.
