Cambridge Application 2021-2022

maddief

I've got a conditional offer on the 12th of Feb for the MCL, no news on the LLM however.

Congrats! Was your app transferred to GAO for approval before you did?

I have no idea unfortunately - I left the application as it is, and lo behold an email on the 12th February.

No problem! Would you mind sharing a bit about your profile?

Hi everyone!

I've just received a conditional offer of admission e-mail for the LLM program.

Best of luck to those who still wait for their admission e-mails!

Thanks. I am stuck in a loop of just refreshing the portal!

It appears that while I got the conditional offer for the MCL, the LLM remains at "under review by department". Let's see how it goes.

Hi everyone - I'm new to this platform and was just looking through this thread. I was curious if anybody knows whether Cambridge sends rejection emails for the LLM and the MCL as they go, or all at the end (and much later).

Essentially, if by a certain date your application still says "under review" (mine does currently) does that mean that it is almost certainly a rejection?

I know it's still early days (and my last name starts with S, if that makes a difference), but can't help but feel a bit anxious.

Hola, they seem to send rejection emails as they go.

Being "under review" at this stage means nothing, so keep calm and believe in yourself!

P.S. I am still "under review" too.

As it is stated in the LLM website, the department has time to review applications until March 1. Thus, under review status indicates neither a rejection nor an offer until then.

I believe we have prematurely become too ecstatic about the process due to the offers made to gary666 and few others. Looking back to previous years, I believe it is absolutely normal that the majority of applicants did not yet hear back from the University.

So keep calm and I am sure we will all be informed about our status in the following 2 weeks:)

You are indeed... a troll hunter.

Just because you and many others in the last two years received relatively late results does not necessarily indicate I mislead people here. If you care to check 2018/2019 cycle, there are even earlier results.

When I shared the news about the status change from under review to awaiting approval by GAO, some others were also skeptical, and I can understand that, but noone expressed that in a way like you do. Still, just to put an end to all the doubts I shared the screenshot of my application tracker then.

You have every right to be skeptical, however you should not classify people as "trolls" without explaining your reasons and expressing yourself in a respectful manner. Otherwise, how can you differantiate yourself from the so called "trolls"?

If you promise to apologize here afterwards, I can clear all your doubts by sharing whatever documents you want to see (and of course I will conceal the parts which contain personal information). I just want to help fellow applicants by sharing updates to ease the pain of waiting since I still have that pain maybe not for Cambridge but for other programs like LSE.

In addition, I noticed this is your first post after a while. There were many questions under many topics in the website where you can help other people as a previous applicant and offer holder but no, you have not posted to help anyone. There are people here who try to help others with the experience and knowledge they have and I am personally grateful for their help. Thus, your approach makes me wonder your reasons to post now. I believe it is not for helping others by identifying a "troll".

Enough of ad hominem, best of luck guys! I hope you receive good news soon.

No reason to be a sceptic about the early results. Had GAO and offer at the same time myself (well, GAO one day earlier than Gary, perhaps, so I guess I was at GAO for one day longer). Granted it was the PhD, but they have also traditionally reported GAO/offer later than this in previous years. Both offers and rejections appear to have come slightly earlier this year.

Hi all, I've been actively following this thread for a few days now. Congratulations to all of you who already received an offer! My LLM status is currently still 'under review', but my MCL status changed to 'awaiting approval by GAO' yesterday morning. I gathered from earlier posts here that this is probably good news, and at the very least it means that things are moving along. Hopefully the ultimate decisions will make their way to us shortly. Best of luck to all of you!

Hey everyone! From past years, I believe that it is quite usual for the MCL and PhD status to change first. That seems to be a sign that we will get the LLM results beginning this weekend or next week (I noticed that status seems to change either on Sunday or later in the evening, around 8PM in the UK - have you guys noticed that on your MCL status changes?).

On the troll issue: just don't let possible trolls get you too anxious for no reason. It is indeed too early for results to start coming in for the LLM. So either there is someone here who is really special to Cambridge or something seems off lol. Just don't wanna believe that someone would take up so much time of their lives to be a troll on a forum where so many people get anxious about any and all news....

I have seen a few LLM applicants either getting offers or being processed to GAO on here, gradcafe and student room, so it definitely looks like they are releasing the first batch of offers. We shouldn't assume people are trolls just because the reality makes us anxious.

I know no news is not always bad news, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up (especially because I personally know my application wasn't very strong this year). I'll probably start preparing for next year's application now haha.
