So, apparently the US will be suspending visa services in some countries until further notice. This affects me and my possibility to study in the US for the time being. Do you believe universities save the your spot for next year if you are in this situation?

I don't think they do, at least, I haven't heard of such precedents. I heard some Universities like Columbia have agreed to refund the deposits of accepted students, if they are unable to attend as a result of the whole Covid-19 situation. Guess this could extend to visa issues as well.
