Oxford scholarship from colleges
Posted Apr 07, 2017 22:25
Hi guys, I have a question concerning college scholarships in Oxford and I would really appreciate your help. I didn't specify my preference for college in my application form. I then applied for scholarships offered by different colleges, and was just notified that I was shortlisted by one. I don't know how the system works, so I was wondering whether being offered a place by one college or receiving a scholarship from one college would prevent me from being considered for a scholarship from another college? Thank you in advance!

Mr and Mrs Kenny Lam Graduate Scholarship and Swire Scholarship. The latter is for East Asian applicants only.

Thanks for sharing. From the information available in the Oxford website the candidates are placed in a college that best suits their funding requirements, so I believe you will be allotted a college that best suits you which means that an offer or a scholarship from a college should not prevent you from being considered for a scholarship from another college.

My college offer at Cambridge says "there are only limited circumstances under which you would now be considered for membership of another College" it then lists "another College has offered you a full or substantial scholarship in writing" as one of them.
I imagine Oxford colleges would have a similar policy.

Thank you Joeyman365! Similar for Oxford. According to my offer, among the two grounds on which a change of college during the application process is possible, one is that "the University moves you to another college to secure a funding on your behalf". Hope this means I would be moved to another college if that one offers a greater funding.
