Opportunity in commercial sector for Indian lawyer with LLM from Queen Mary

Vidhi

Hello there,

I have done my graduation in law from India and been working there for 3 years (2 years with a law firm and 1 year in-house for a multinational IT company), in the present year I expect to accomplish LLM (corporate and commercial law) by september 2012 from Queen Mary, Uni. of London. Post my degree i look forward to work in-house however I am not sure how worth i would be for overseas jobs like in UK and US. I would appreciate any guide on this as I would really like to know the prospects (if any) of jobs in UK and US (especially with the ban of psw in UK).

Thank you in advance.

If you want 2 practice in the U.S., you need to be licensed in one of the states in U.S. The best is to take the New York State Bar exam. However the challenge is to get sponsored for a work visa (H1-B).

i think Indian market can also offer you great prospects in house and in good firms. getting in US or UK law firm with LLM withouit JD or LLB from their respective university is a tough job and u really need to slog. further as mentioned in the above post, u need to appear for the respective state bar council where u wish to practise or get employed.
