Harvard.
If you could go to any law school in the world, which would it be?

I can't believe there would be so much argument over such a clear-cut issue. Can any institution in higher education hold a candle to Harvard? It's an insult to even mention oxford and cambridge in the same breath as Harvard.
Since when does the "ancientness" of an institution equal to excellence? There are plenty of schools older than even oxford and cambridge that aren't any good any more. English education is not what they used to be. Student quality is way down. Trust me. I went to one of those. The only law school I'd even consider in the same sentence with Harvard would be Yale. And that's not even close. Yale may outrank Harvard in that stupid US News ranking, but reputation-wise, domestic and international prestige wise, there's on other institution of any kind in the world that can hold the jock-strap of a Harvard graduate.
It's even dumber to bring location into this issue. No kidding, a lot of people would probably go to the University of Puerto Rico Law School given the choice, because they just love the damn place, or because it's cheaper. I just saw some of the worse logic in this thread. You sure you guys are cut for law practice?

In my estimation, any of the following law schools would present a good opportunity for intellectual fulfillment in terms of international reputation, quality of instruction and an inspiring academic environment:
In the United Kingdom: LSE, Oxford, Cambridge
In the United States: Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Georgetown, University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall), University of Michigan

I have a feeling that you are from LSE.

I have an MSc from the London School of Economics. I'm now considering an LLM (MJur/JSM) either from Oxbridge or an American law school. My classmates at the LSE had BAs from Oxbridge and MAs from Harvard, so we had a fairly interesting mix. My interest in pursuing an LLM in an American law school is largely influenced by the fact that my father has an LLM from Yale Law School, and my mother, an MA from Columbia.

I think it would be awesome if you state in your personal letter that your motivation for pursuing LLM studies is to copy your father's/mother's life experience.

$$$ Lawyer,
Thanks for your suggestion. I'll bear it in mind when I apply. They truly had a memorable educational experience in New Haven, and New York City, respectively.
Good luck in your application. Hope you make it into the school of your choice.

There is no way Harvard is a more prestigious law school than Yale. I don't think a single Harvard JD student got into Yale.
They're both excellent, but here are the statistics:
Harvard: 500 seats, 11% admission rate.
Yale: 185 seats, 7.3% admission rate.
So Yale is arguably the best US law school. Does it mean it's the best in the world? Who knows, it's difficult to compare legal systems and schooling is different in every country.

Are you serous?? Berkeley's campus is GORGEOUS! I go here, and I can say that walking along campus and being able to see the San Francisco Bay is amazing! Plus, you learn a lot from everyone around you, not just your professors.
