Georgetown Tax 2020-21

LLMTax02

Hello all

I've started a new thread for admitted Georgetown tax LLM students. Hoping to get to know the cohort and discuss what's going through everyone's mind while they decide if they'll join the program.

Also hoping to talk to Graduate tax scholars and other tax scholarship recipients.

Thanks! And no, I haven't heard back on my scholarship application yet. Got an email listing the deposit deadlines and advising that those who would need visas should pay it asap especially in light of COVID19.

Do you plan on taking the course even if you don't get a scholarship?

Attending without a scholarship will be tough. Not sure I'll be able to attend.

Same case here. I was admitted but haven’t had any news regarding scholarships

I heard from them on Friday but got a meager amount. Won't really help. And it looks like it's a general scholarship, not from any dedicatedly tax fund.

Good afternoon, OP! I received the GTS scholarship a few weeks ago and recently accepted. However, I don't think that everyone has. Good luck!

Congratulations! It means GTS has been awarded.

I got a scholarship also but it is not sufficient to cover the entire cost of attendance. I was hoping to support myself with student jobs. But I just came across the under-mentioned limitation with the scholarship: "Scholars may generally not accept paid employment outside of the Law Center during the academic year...".

I'm slightly confused as to the exact purport of the rule. Does it mean the graduate tax scholars are barred from student jobs or would we be allowed to take jobs like library and research assistantship roles within the Law Centre?
