Given the number of admitted students who have been deferring this year, I believe that next year's cycle will be more competitive than normal at many schools.
That is, if things are better managed and more under control next year. If not, it's possible that at least some of those who deferred at US schools may look to apply elsewhere, or just delay indefinitely.
