I have done certificate courses from EDX and Coursera.

Would the emails of completion be enough or is the certificate (which costs quite a good amount, really!) be necessary?

You have to get a certificate of these courses. However, I am not sure about benefits of these online certificates to get a job.

So, I recommend you not to spend your money on these online certificates if you are not sure about their benefit. If you already know anything about their benefit please let me know.
