Applying for LLM program with a German LLB?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if one can apply for an American LLM program with a LLB degree from Germany. While most universities only award the First State Exam (1. Staatsexamen), some also award an LLB (e.g. Potsdam, FU Berlin etc). Does anyone have any experience with applying with an LLB?

Cheers!

Typically the US schools will need to see if your first law degree is roughly equivalent to an ABA-accredited JD program.

I suggest connecting with the schools you're interested in and asking them directly how they would consider the degree.
