Hello,

The LL.M. in EU Competition and IP law offers several course on IP law. The courses on trademark law and copyright are two of the most important courses here and have important implications for fashion.
The LL.M. does not provide any specfic course on fashion. However, the IP enforcement course might learn you how to implement the rights of fashion clothes and purse designers.
In addition, several seminars might be of interest for you :
- The Unfair Competition Law seminar will teach you how to deal with free-riders competitors who build their own business on the success of others.
- The seminar on the Regulation of Counterfeit Goods is also attractive. More and more, fashion, branded goods are counterfeited. An introduction to the Law of Counterfeited goods is a must is you wish to work in the fashion sector.

(Please note that I have not followed all of the abover-referred courses as I opted for other optional courses when I followed the LL.M. This is what I can tell you for what as been reported to me by my friends).

I hope this helps,

Cheers,

Hello,

To my best knowledge, the first full-English version of the LL.M. in EU Competition & IP law will start in September 2011 !

The bilingual (French-English) version is still available.

Do not hesitate to reach the LLM Secretary, Mrs Langevin (ieje@ulg.ac.be) for any extra information regarding the application process. She is really supportive !

No problem.
I understand you opt for Leuven if you are looking for a broad, general LLM in European law.
The LLM in EU Competition law is specialised in competition an IP law, and tailored for an immediate entry into the profession.

Good luck to you !

Do you know whether it is usual for them to take a long time replying though?

I emailed both Ms Langevin and the general admissions office at the University of Liège about one month ago with a few queries that need to be clarified before I apply and so far they haven't got back to me yet.

I've emailed them in the meantime asking them whether they might give me an indication of when they would be able to give me an answer. No reply to this email either.

I would like to do an L.LM. in Liège, and I'm wondering what's its reputation. Some people told me about the one organized by the HUB-KUL, and about this one and I really don't know which one chose.

Can't say about the LL.M. HUB-KUL, but this one rocks !

The courses are demanding and interactive.

I do not regret to have followed this LL.M.. My most-interesting year of law, without a doubt !

Hello
I would like to know whether the Full-English programme is open only for non-EU citizens? I'm a EU citizen but I'm not fluent in French. What would be the tuition fee under this circumstances?

Hello,

I confirm that the Full-English programme is open to non-EU citizens only.

French lessons are offered at the ULg during the academic year for those students who would like to improve their fluency in French.

Hi,

You shouldn't worry about the French courses too much! My French wasn't that great either but I nevertheless managed to complete the program successfully.

The teachers are really understanding and you can always ask notes from a French-speaking student.
