I did not take any tax courses in law school and would like to take an online course in Federal Income Tax or Survey of Tax Law. Can anyone recommend a quality course that would also act as a prerequisite for a tax LLM on the chance that I decide to pursue the LLM?

Georgetown offers an llm in taxation as well other certificate programs, in particular if you have not taken a course in income taxation beforehand. It covers the foundations of tax law and you can take just the certificate or go for the entire llm. Other than that you may consider Ashford Uni or John Hopkins for an MS. You may also opt for tax courses at NYU.
