visa type for PLT at college of law (sydney)

Hi all,

I'm looking into the online full-time PLT course at the College of Law (Sydney). I hold a Canadian passport and was wondering whether I can complete this course with a visitors' visa instead of a student visa. I do not intend to stay in Australia during the whole course but would only enter Australia for the on-site sessions and exams. Did anybody (non-Australian citizens) enroll in the online full-time PLT course?

Thanks!

Yes, I called the College of Law and they said it is the student's responsibility to ensure that they obtain a visa to enter into Australia and that they will not inquire into issues relating to visas. I then called the Australian Consulate-General (Hong Kong) and they informed me that I do not need to obtain a student visa for the PLT course as I will only stay in Australia for a few days per visit (for the exams and on-site sessions).

For those who obtained their degree outside Australia, I hope the below will offer you some guidance as to how the academic exemption works in NSW. I obtained my LLB in Hong Kong and applied to LPAB for academic exemption. They granted me exemption to all subjects with the exception to Constitutional Law and Professional Ethics =)
