The Law School

Headed up by Professor Dermot Cahill, author of Corporate Finance Law (Sweet & Maxwell) and European Law (Oxford University Press), Bangor University School of Law is offering an exciting range of single and joint Law programmes aimed at those who want to specialise in all areas of law, especially business law, as well as those aiming at careers in management and banking.
The courses address contemporary issues relevant to the business and political environment worldwide and they will equip students with the knowledge and skills required for operating successfully in the global market.
With the ever changing environment of business, trade, society and our way of life in the 21st century, legal systems and regulations must also adapt and evolve, and Bangor Law degrees address and reflect these changes.
Bangor is consistently rated highly for student satisfaction, placed in the 1st position for services to new students and most recently voted 15th in a Times Newspaper survey of ALL UK universities for the quality of student experience. An impressive 92% satisfaction rate was given by Bangor Law students in the recently-published National Student Survey.
The School of Law is not too big so it has an informal and welcoming atmosphere which allows students easy access to their professors through our ‘open door’ policy.

"After gaining my LLM at Bangor, I was accepted onto a PhD at University College London. I am now in New York doing an internship in the Office of Legal Affairs division of the United Nations. All this is thanks to the Bangor Law School's excellent teaching, support and enthusiastic lecturers."Bolanle Adebola
"I currently studying a PhD at Bangor Law School. I also have a keen interest in languages therefore I have been taking some additional courses in Spanish and French in the School of Modern Languages. I’ve even been learning a bit of Welsh! I also do the teaching in Higher Education certificate.
I have always enjoyed traveling to Wales on holidays and when it came to the possibility of studying abroad for a year in 2004/2005, Wales was my first choice. When I first arrived at Bangor Law School, the staff and students were very friendly, approachable and helpful, I immediately felt at home. Also, what made Bangor stand out was the location, being between the mountains and the sea, the views are breathtaking!
The best thing about the course is that it is very challenging and interesting to try and develop your own thoughts and opinions and make a contribution to academia. We also get the opportunity to help organize and take part in many high profile events at university, such as the regional final of the European Law Moot Court competition."
