The Law School

Bucerius Law School Campus
WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is a private, research-based and internationally-oriented business school emphasizing entrepreneurial spirit. WHU offers B.Sc., M.Sc., MBA, Executive MBA and doctoral and post-doctoral programs in business administration. WHU is constantly ranked among the top business schools in Europe.
Not only do both schools enjoy excellent worldwide reputation, but Bucerius and WHU graduates are also among the most sought-after young professionals in their respective fields.
The Program

Graduation Ceremony 2008
Bucerius Law School and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management are the ideal partners to offer an innovative, international and practice-oriented Master of Law and Business (“MLB”) Program.
Bucerius/WHU Master of Law and Business Program participants learn to analyze a broad range of legal and economic issues in a targeted and integrated manner. Unlike standard “joint degree” programs where students simply take courses in only two different faculties, the English-language, one-year MLB is a true joint Master Program where a wide variety of more than 50 courses are offered exclusively for MLB students. In addition, many business and law courses are “linked” with professors which coordinate course content and materials with their colleagues from the other discipline. As a direct result, students link individual topics from both a legal and a business perspective.
Both full-time professors and experienced practitioners train MLB students systematically. In addition, during a two-month internship, students learn to apply their classroom knowledge, as well as network with other professionals. These internships take place at major international law firms, international organizations, and international corporations, both within Germany and worldwide. After the internship, students take final courses and write their Master’s Thesis.
In addition to required coursework, students participate in English-language, presentation skills and German-language courses, intercultural and interview trainings, company presentations, social and other students activities, as well as excursions.
In the current 2008–2009 academic year, some 46 students from 26 countries are studying in the MLB Program.
The Bucerius/WHU Master of Law and Business Programm is substantially supported by:
- UBS Deutschland AG
- Allen & Overy LLP
- Claussen-Simon-Stiftung
- Haspa
- Marga und Kurt Möllgaard-Stiftung
- ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius

With 1.7 million inhabitants, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and one of the 16 federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Hamburg is both a city and a state.Economically and culturally, Hamburg is also the center of all Northern Germany. 3.5 million people live in the metropolitan region of Hamburg.
The Bucerius campus is centrally-located, just minutes away from Hamburg’s main commercial district, shopping areas, and the lovely Inner and Outer Alster Lakes.
Hamburg is a congenial city to live in. With its parks, promenades, imposing city centre and leafy residential streets, Hamburg is known for its beauty. Culture thrives with renowned theatres, opera, ballet and a classical music scene worthy of Mendelssohn and Brahms, both sons of the city. The undercurrent to all this is the Hamburg mentality, understated but alert, meticulously polite but friendly -- the product of centuries of internationalism.
