My friend told me that the there is a JD course in UTS. What is the reputation of UTS? I am thinking both UNSW and UTS.

Looking for direction.

If you are comparing UTS and UNSW then the answer is clear - go for UNSW :)

UNSW belongs to the "Group of 8" research intensive universities and have a much wider presence throughout Asia and have a better international reputation :)

How about ANU JD? Melboure need to take several test, something like GMat like the USA style.

UTS give me offer already. But since I am not rich, so better to choose carefully. I am worry about the result as well, as I think I can get a 2.1 honour in UTS (well hopefully less competitive) but only a low 2.2 honor in NSW or ANU... Because in my country, a 2.2 is not able to qualify as lawyer. Please help. How to choose?

Hello!

I think the ANU JD would be good too - given you are going back home to work I think it more crucial you take the international standing of these universities into consideration. ANU and UNSW both have a decent reputation so you should not go wrong attending there.

I think you should be positive and believe that you will achieve a 2:1 in any university you choose. I am sure the standards at UTS would be equally rigid so no pain no gain. If you don't mind getting a LLB (graduate) then you should also consider University of Sydney :)

As a UTS JD student, I can safely say that UTS marking is much more arduous than other Sydney law schools. They make a point to tell us that assessments are criterion based, so you are marked according to a set criteria and not against your peers. No bell curve here. Last semester, no one got above a Distinction in Contract Law. They don't care.

Only thing about UTS is that in the industry, at least in Sydney, law firms know about this and take that into account when reviewing averages for clerkships. A less than stellar average at UTS is just as good as a Distinction at UNSW. Was told by people in the top six that when interviewing UTS grads, they understand that they're not graded on a curve. So don't be fooled. UTS may not be part of Group of 8, but their profs graduated from the Group of 8 unis and grade extremely rigidly. I saw go for UNSW or USyd as you're more likely to come out with a degree that is internationally more well recognised anyway. Although UTS is a fabulous uni.

Yes, you are not the first person to tell me UTS is well recognised by the industries. People told me they are more practical and down to earth. In fact, the staff is very good, they answered all my queries in a very speedy way.

If I take the PLT course in UTS, i worry that I cant find the 16 weeks training as an international student. Will it?
