Environmental Law in Europe?
Hi I am wondering if any of the continental universities offer an LLM which allows specialisation in environmental or climate law. My search has not revealed anything outside of the UK.

Tilburg Univ offers an LLM in environmental law. Unfortunately, the program is only taught in Dutch.Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:33 AM KU Leuven does however offer an LLM in energy and environmental law in English! (And Leuven has a good reputation, too.) [Edited by ChiefWiggum'sSon on 07 Aug 2009] |

Cheers! Have you heard anything about the reputation of the course? I looked on the website and it seems good and Leuven is one of the better universities on the continent...

I haven't heard anything about it - probably due to the fact that, personally, I'm not engaged in that field at all. There should be persons better informed about this specific course than me. As you said, however, Leuven is surely nice.

heySun Aug 09, 2009 11:36 PM you can do that in maastricht as well... if you do the law and globalization master for example, then theres courses on that. plus you can do an internship for which you get credits at environmental ngos or sth the like... theyre quite flexible in that programme regards |

University of Iceland has a program: LLM in International and Environmental Law. It's taught in English, and they have a good reputation in renewal energy and climate changing, and it's almost for free (around 600 dollars, even for international students). However, too bad weather, even for the british alternatives.Tue Aug 18, 2009 01:58 AM University of Copenhaguen has some subjects in environmental law, so you can have your own especialization, but in order to get the LLM degree there, you need to study for 2 years. Leuven sounds good, and it's cheaper than the british ones. |

Thanks alot for the advice...Yeah I have an offer to UCL which is meant to be the best in Europe for environmental law but the cost is prohibitive. Especially with the British rules that you have to live in Europe for 3 years to be an EU student and access any loans

I'm doing International Law and Sustainable Development this year at Strathclyde and one of the core modules is Environmental Law.Thu Aug 27, 2009 01:17 PM Glasgow will be LOTS cheaper to live than London etc if you thinking of the UK. The fees are £4,500 www.law.strath.ac.uk/courses/ilsd_pg.htm |
